Meet Our Research Team
To help businesses and the amazing citizens of Cambodia our humanitarian research project aims to show that businesses can be a force for good. We’ve set some big hairy audacious goals (BHAGs), and we know they’ll be difficult to complete successfully. That’s why we’ve worked hard to assemble a rockstar team of researchers and visionaries; you can read a little about each of them below.
Seth Allred
Student Research Fellow
Seth Allred is a BYU Marketing student with a passion for social entrepreneurship and Environmental, Social, and Governance work. For the Cambodia Project he is studying the effects of gender equality among businesses in Cambodia. He enjoys conducting extensive research to solve an ambiguous problem, interpersonal relationships with those of a different culture, and collaborating with a team to accomplish the goal.
Nate Allred, PhD
Researcher
Nate Allred is an assistant professor of marketing in the Rawls College of Business. He received his PhD in marketing from Penn State University. He is a consumer behavior researcher with a focus on consumer beliefs and sustainability. His primary area of research is on conspiracy beliefs, and their effects on consumption and business. He is also interested in international research, primarily in developing nations. Thanks to his parents’ insatiable appetite for travel Nathan has been to over 85 countries and has lived on three continents.
Ben Beck, PhD MBA
Principal Investigator and Project Lead
Ben B. Beck is an Assistant Professor of Marketing in the Marriott School of Business at Brigham Young University. His research interests focus primarily on business as a force for good. He brings that interest to the Cambodia Project, as the principal investigator for the research. Prior to his time in academia, Ben managed marketing for tech companies. Despite his near addiction to tech and marketing, he also loves to get away from it all and spend time cycling or in the mountains. Ben and his wife have two rambunctiously entertaining boys.
Oliza Loy
Student Research Fellow
Oliza is studying English at the BYU-English Language Center, in preparation to earn a bachelor’s degree of English Literature. In the past, she has worked at a travel agency, in hotels and with NGOs. Working with NGOs is one of her favorite jobs because it allows her to meet with a lot of people and see how their lives have been changed. In the future, she wants to contribute to the Cambodian people. As such, she has the goal of getting higher education to help develop Cambodia to be more prosperous.

Senior Researcher
Dr. Bruce Money is the Fred Meyer Professor of Marketing and serves as executive director of BYU’s Global Business Center. His research areas include international business-to-business marketing, services, and negotiation. Before his academic career, he gained 8 years of industry experience. In his spare time, Bruce and his wife enjoy cycling, skiing, and playing with their 13 grandchildren.
Christian Pearson

Christian Pearson is majoring in Marketing and Spanish Studies at Brigham Young University. His love of education and his passion for self-improvement motivate him to work hard and play harder. Christian gets excited about trying new things, meeting new people, and adding new stamps to his passport. His passion for travel has taken him to places such as Taiwan, Spain, Mexico, and Ecuador, and he has served in various capacities as a humanitarian worker in each of those countries. He also hosts the Inside the Cambodia Project podcast.
